Surgical Cases Explanation

  1. Mastectomy: Mastectomy is the removal of the entire breast or part of it as part of breast cancer treatment. This procedure is indicated when the tumor is large or spreading, and may be the only option depending on how advanced the breast cancer is. Breast reconstruction may be performed after lumpectomy.
  2. Lumpectomy: Lumpectomy is a surgical procedure in which the breast cancer is not removed from the breast, but only the tumor and surrounding healthy tissue are removed. This surgery is suitable for early-stage breast cancer and aims to preserve as much of the breast as possible. Usually, radiation therapy may be given after the conservative surgery.
  3. Breast Reconstruction: Breast reconstruction is surgery to reconstruct a breast that has been removed due to breast cancer. Reconstructive surgery may be performed at the same time or as a separate procedure. There are various options for reconstruction, including the use of artificial implants and the use of one’s own tissue. Reconstructive surgery is considered according to the patient’s choice and treatment plan.
